Back to the Gulf

New Orleans is chaos.

It’s rainy here. The walkways are puddled and a little muddy. It smells…not great. The homeless are arrayed around the backside of the cathedral.

As I sit in the iconic Cafe du Monde waiting for the iconic cafe au lait and beignets the cathedral bell starts tolling while a guy outside goes by with a blower cleaning off the walkway. The noise grows inside the cafe and outside. The walls are a bit crumbly.

Charmingly decrepit. But you have to see it. Feels kind of like going to visit your ancient maiden aunt so she can regale you with tales of her glory days.
